Details: Extract from Petition by Richard Dorrant for a Ticket of Leave... Petitioner came to the colony by the ship General Hewitt and since arrival and still lives with John Pike of Toongabbie, Settler, in which service he has conducted himself to the satisfaction of the employer. Petitioner wishes for the Indulgence of a Ticket of Leave so that he could obtain a comfotrable livelihood by industry. Supported in his request by Rev. Samuel Marsden who stated the petitioner had behaved well in service

Details: Petition of Benjamin Elsey for a Ticket of Leave. Petitioner served in the Government boats for upwards of two years but from an accident in said employment was obliged to go into the Hospital and on his recovery was sent to the wood cutters gang where he now continues to work. Petitioner has ever since his arrival , a period of six years, endeavoured by a proper line of conduct and a due regard to honesty and sobriety and implicit obedience to the orders of his superiors, to merit clemency in granting to Petitioner some Indulgence in the way of a Ticket of Leave. - Note - Petitioner came in the ship with me to this country and conducted himself with propriety and honesty, signed J. Harris
